A large fire broke out in two residential towers in the United Arab Emirates,on Monday. There were no immediate reports of casualties and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Residents were evacuated, and firefighters were trying to extinguish the blaze, but several have reportedly been
treated for breathing problems and minor injuries.
This is the fourth major high-rise fire in the UAE in three years. On New Year’s Eve, a large fire engulfed the luxury 63-storey hotel in central Dubai, February 2015, fire broke out at a 79-storey residential building in Dubai, and in November 2012, a 34-storey Dubai residential building was partially ransacked .
Ajman Police tweeted the showed flames engulfing most of one side of the tower, reaching several storeys high.
On Tuesday morning, Ajman civil defence said the fire had been extinguished and that teams were waiting for the building to cool down.
