Dubai: It seems that crime against women is on the rise in the UAE too. In one such incident, a man allegedly raped a 21-year-old Pakistani woman. This incident took place at Al Mamzar Park in Dubai.
According to the report published in the Khaleej Times, the accused is identified as Bangladeshi national. He committed this crime after posing himself as a staff member of the Dubai Municipality.
As per the details of the incident, the victim was sitting along with her friend. The accused approached them and started demanding a fine of Dh500. He also asked their IDs.
In order to get IDs, her friend went to the parking area. As soon as her friend left the spot, the accused dragged her to an area surrounded by trees and then raped her. After committing the crime, he fled away from the spot along with her mobile phone.
On getting the details, her friend called the police.
After a preliminary investigation, Dubai Police found that the accused is an illegal resident. Later, he was arrested from his flat located in Al Ghafia, Sharjah.
According to the police, he confessed to the crime. Forensic test results also confirmed that the DNA of both the accused and the sample found on the victim’s body are the same.
