Union Textiles Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao has refused to join issue with those, who were criticizing him for taking a U Turn on the Telangana issue.
The Union minister visited the Sri Kanaka Durga temple here on Sunday and offered prayers to the Goddess.Speaking to the media later, Kavuri said he did not owe any explanation on the criticism about his change of stand on the Telangana issue. He said his views on Telangana were not scientific earlier and added that he was being more scientific in his approach to the problem. He felt that a decision that would be acceptable to all would be announced on Telangana.
The Union minister, who said he had already conveyed his views to the Congress High Command, however declined to reveal what those views were. He, however, expressed hope that the leadership would do what was best for the people of both the regions.
Replying to questions on his department, he said he was making efforts to develop the handloom industry to suit the changing times. He also announced that he would be implementing health insurance to the handloom weavers. (NSS)
