U.S. Defence Secretary to visit India on Sunday

New Delhi: U.S. Defence Secretary Ashton Carter, who will arrive here on Sunday on a three-day visit to India, is scheduled to meet Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Carter will kick off his India visit from Goa on Sunday, where he will be visiting the famous Mangueshi temple and two churches along with Parrikar.

Later he will attend a dinner hosted by the Defence Minister.

His official engagement, however, will start on Monday with a visit to aircraft carrier Vikramaditya along with Parrikar, who will be hosting a lunch for him on the aircraft carrier.

Thereafter both will also board USS Blue Ridge, one of the oldest ship in the U.S. seventh fleet and a command centre off Goa.

On the evening of April 11, he will leave for Delhi.

He will hold delegation-level talks with Parrikar at the South Block at 12 hrs on April 12, which will be followed by a joint statement.

Later, he will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (ANI)
