Two washed away in Bhadrachalam

Two devotees reportedly washed away in the river Godavari at temple town Bhadrachalam in Khammam district on Sunday morning.

According to reports, some 40 persons from Reddigudem village under Nuzvid mandal of Krishna district arrived in Bhadrachalam town to have a darshan of Lord Srirama. While all of them were bathing in the river, Variboyina Vaddilu, 30, and Maralaballi Gopi, 18, washed away in the river.

On receipt of the information, the police pressed Fire Service personnel and expert swimmers into the rescue operation. It is learnt while Gopi was screaming for help, Vaddilu tried to catch him, but both were washed away in the swirling waters. (NSS)
