Residents of two villages of Nellore district chose to boycott the by-elections as no one has bothered to solve their problems.
Residents of Racharlapadu village in Kodavaluru mandal have refrained from casting their votes, demanding return of their lands acquired for the IFFCO Kisan SEZ. None of the 526 voters of the polling centre 156 have cast their votes.
In Kavali rural mandal, residents of the Choudarypalem village have also boycott the polling. They were protesting against the elected representatives’ not bothering to solve their drinking water and other problems.
Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal has appealed to the voters to first exercise their franchise and then ask their representatives to solve the problems. He said voting was their constitutional right and advised them to choose the candidate on whom they had faith.
The CEO has also directed the district collector to talk to the villagers and make them cast their votes. (NSS)
