Two US-led soldiers killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, May 25: NATO-led International Security Assistance Force announced in a statement on Wednesday that one of its soldiers had died from wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device attack.

Another soldier was killed in a bomb blast in the north of Afghanistan, the statement added.

The Western military alliance did not reveal the identities or the nationalities of the deceased soldiers.

The latest deaths bring the number of killed NATO forces for the month of May to 29. At least 191 foreign troops have been killed so far this year.

Last year was the deadliest for the foreign troops with their casualties standing at over 700.

As the death toll for US-led forces climbs in Afghanistan, public opinion in the United States and other Western countries has been increasingly turning against the Afghan war.

The security situation has steadily worsened across Afghanistan over the past few years despite the presence of around 150,000 US led foreign troops in the country.
