Two US-led soldiers killed in Afghan war

Kabul, September 19: The Western military alliance announced that one soldier was killed in a militant attack on Monday and another lost his life in a bombing incident one day earlier.

NATO did not provide further information about the nationalities of the soldiers and the location of the attack.

According to iCasualties.org, these two deaths raise the number of casualties for foreign troops in Afghanistan to at least 445 since the beginning of 2011.

Violence in Afghanistan is on the rise as militants have intensified their spring and summer offensive.

August 2011 was the deadliest month for US troops in the decade-long war in Afghanistan with 66 American soldiers killed in this month alone, according to figures released by AP.

The increasing number of troop casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the US and other NATO member states, undermining public support for the Afghan war.

Insecurity continues to rise in Afghanistan despite the presence of nearly 150,000 US-led forces in the country.
