Nalbari, August 27: Two ULFA militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam’s Nalbari district Thursday, official sources said here.
Acting on a tip-off about the militants taking shelter in Jarpaluk village, a joint team of the army and police launched an operation and cordoned off the village since last night.
The militants in a bid to escape opened fire this morning and the security forces retaliated and the duo were killed in the exchange.
One of the militants was identifed, the sources said adding a pistol with several rounds of ammunitions and some documents were recovered from the slain militants.
