Hyderabad, May 14: Cyberabad police arrested two persons who cheated a DCM driver of Rs 5 lakh on the pretext of selling him gold at a cheaper price.
According to Meerpet police, the arrested, B Shiva Anjaneyulu alias Shivaiah (38) of Pagidipalem village in Chittoor district and J Lakshmi Devi alias Lakshmi (35) of Mittaipalem village in Anantapur district, duped D Ramulu of Telephone Exchange Colony by offering him gold at a cheaper rate.
They came in contact with Ramulu at Bhongir and told him they were in possession of 2-kg gold and that they would sell it for a cheaper rate. They even gave a sample of gold for verification and Ramulu got convinced and struck a deal for Rs 5 lakh,” Meerpet police said. Ramulu, along with his son Mahesh and son-in-law Saidulu, went to Bagepally village bordering Karnataka state to take the gold after giving the money. Even as Ramulu was waiting to hand over the cash, two persons came in a jeep and identifying themselves as policemen threatened them and fled away with the money. Realising he was duped by Shivaiah, Ramulu lodged a complaint.
