Hyderabad, June 27: The Health and Sanitation Wing of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Saturday carried out surprise inspections on eating establishments at Mehdipatnam and Tolichowki and sealed the ‘US Pizza’ and the store room of ‘Madar Restaurant’ at Yousuf Tekdi in Towlichowki.
Eleven eateries were also penalised for violating GHMC by-laws.
The raids were carried by three special teams with each team led by an Assistant Medical Officer of the Health Department and Food Inspectors with related staff in an enforcement vehicle. The three teams inspected 27 eating establishments.
The two eateries were sealed as they posed a danger to public health because of the unhygienic conditions in the premises.
The 11 eateries penalised for violations were identifies as Ice & Spice, Hotel Pallavi, Sarvi Bakers & Restaurant, Paradise Juice, Ice Cream, Chat & Bakery, Four Seasons Multi Cuisine Restaurant, Ustad Bande Nawaz Dining, Maks Kitchen, New Andhra Deluxe Mess, Swagath Hotel, Mandar Restaurant, and Hotel Amfa Café & Tiffin Centre. All these eateries are located in Mehdipatnam and Towlichowki areas.
The GHMC Health Department urged hotel owners to maintain their kitchens and premises in hygienic condition.
The inspection teams warned the eateries that they should provide wholesome drinking water and serve freshly prepared food to customers or face strict action.
