New Delhi, February 16:With the arrest of two persons, Delhi Police today claimed to have smashed a gang of cellphone thieves and recovered 10 mobiles and four wrist-watches from them.
24-year-old Gopi Chand and 20-year-old Mukesh, both hailing from Uttar Pradesh, were arrested from the Jama Masjid here when they tried to flee after stealing the mobile phone of a 82-year-old man.
Both the accused were subjected to sustained interrogation during which they revealed that they target aged persons and steal their belongings, especially mobile phones, police said.
“Further, at their instance, nine other mobile phones and four wrist-watches suspected to have been stolen at different places and time were recovered. They further disclosed that they operate in trains also and dispose of the stolen articles at their native place,” a senior police
official said.
