Kolkata, August 27: Two persons have been arrested by CBI for their alleged involvement in the Jnaneshwari Express train derailment case.
The duo — Dayamoy Mahato, junior trackman and Ram Mudi, resident of Lakajhuria, Jhargram — were arrested on August 25 and three railway identity cards of same serial number, two mobiles and five SIM cards seized from their possession.
Both the accused were produced before a court in Jhargram yesterday and were remanded to police custody till September 4, CBI spokesperson Harsh Bhal said today.
The court has also granted 10 days police custody for Mantu Mahato, resident of Guimara under Jhargram Police Station area, another accused in the case, he said.
“All these accused played vital role in the crime and had close nexus with Bapi Mahato and other accused in the case,” the official said.
CBI has so far arrested 16 people in this case.
