Two people including a shopping centre watchman in Bhayander who were found guilty of murdering a man in 2010 were convicted today and sentenced to life imprisonment by Thane Principal Sessions and District Judge K K Sonawane. The judge held Munnalal Shankarlal Sharma (35) and Harish Adaji Chowdhary (38) guilty of charges under Section 302 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and jailed the duo. Additional Public Prosecutor Hemlata Deshmukh told the court in her submission that the victim Zinak Tilakram Yadav (38) was a resident of the township. Allegedly, the victim had illicit relations with Munnalal’s wife and he continued with it, despite being asked to desist. On January 24, 2010, at about 8 am, while he was passing by the Suvidha Shopping Centre, both the accused tied him with a rope, hung him by his head and beat him up, breaking his body parts. However, two people watching this from the terrace of the next building rushed to his rescue. By the time they arrived the two accused had dumped the badly injured Zinak in a gunny bag. They opened the bag and took the severely injured Zinak to hospital, but he died on the way, the court was told. The court was also told that Munnalal was annoyed with the victim for having a relationship with his wife and hence he liquidated him with the help of his friend. The judge relied on the eyewitness account of the two who witnessed the incident from the neighbouring building as well as medical reports. While Additional Public Prosecutor Hemlata Deshmukh appeared for the prosecution, Ramrao Jagtao and S S Butala appeared for those accused. PTI
