Two school teachers arrested in AP for molestation

Visakhapatnam, March 18: The district police arrested two school teachers who are alleged to be involved in sexually harassing girl students at a Zilla Parishad school in the Nakkapalli Mandal in the district.

According to the police sources the teachers Shankar Rao (Social Studies) and Satya Babu (Physical Education), at Godicherla ZP high school in Nakpalli Mandal in the district, sexually harassed girl students by asking them to kiss, touch and made obscene gestures. The victims of alleged sexual harassment, who are ninth-standard girl students, informed their parents about the incident.

After learning about the matter, the kins of the girls and villagers went to the school yesterday and argued with the teachers on the issue and also complained the matter to police. Acting on the complaint police took both the teachers in custody for questioning. According to the police several girls were sexually harassed by the duo for past many days, but girls reported about the incident only yesterday.

According to a victim, one of the teachers asked her to come to his house and allegedly made obscene gestures and grabbed her, however, she managed to free herself from his clutches and ran away, the police officer said. Police has registered a case under Section 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of Indian penal code (IPC), against both the teachers, and they would soon be arrested.
