Ferozepur : A man and one of his sons were shot dead while the other was injured after an altercation allegedly over old enmity at Rukanshah Wala village here today.
Harnam Singh (80) died on the spot while his elder son Joginder Singh (45) succumbed to bullet injuries at a hospital here, police said, adding the father-son duo were Akali workers.
Harnam’s younger son and a district vice-president of SAD Balwinder Singh was injured in the incident. He is receiving treatment at the hospital, they said.
The incident took place when Lakhwinder Singh along with his accomplices went to meet Balwinder at his house this morning, police said.
Their discussion soon turned into an altercation and Lakhwinder allegedly shot at them, Ferozepur SSP Gaurav Garg said.
Lakhwinder allegedly has affiliation with the ruling Congress.
The SSP said a case has been registered against ten people, including Lakhwinder, and the police are searching for them.
Incidentally, Joginder was related to the accused as their wives are sisters, police said.
