New Delhi/Hyderabad, January 18: The Congress High Command on Tuesday gave green signal for Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to go ahead with the Cabinet expansion on January 19.
According to sources, the high command limited the expansion of Cabinet to accommodating the two Praja Rajyam candidates – MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao and MLC C Ramachandraaiah despite opposition raised from a few party leaders.
The hopes of many senior leaders in the party dashed off with the high command deciding against going for a full-fledged cabinet expansion. However, the high command has reportedly took this decision after considering the pros and cons over the addition and deletion in the cabinet.
Earlier, the Chief Minister had a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party in-charge for State Ghulam Nabi Azad and political advisor Ahmad Patel over the expansion of cabinet for more than three hours in New Delhi.
The new ministers are likely to take oath at Raj Bhavan at around 11.45 am.
