Two Passengers held at Airport—Gold Bars seized

Hyderabad: Officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), intercepted two passengers who arrived by Spicejet Flight from Guwahati at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad on Tuesday. On examination, two gold bars in cuboid shape concealed with silver coating were recovered from them.

The passengers admitted that the gold was smuggled in to the country and they did not have any documents to prove the licit purchase/import of the gold. The gold weighing 1000 grams valued at Rs. 31.68 lakhs has been seized under Customs Act, and the two persons were apprehended.
