Srinagar, July 24: Two Pakistani militants of the Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in a gunfight with the security forces in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.
The gunfight erupted when the police and troops of 21 Rashtriya Rifles launched a search-and-cordon operation in the Bagh-e-Hakhar area at Handwara, 90 km from here.
The bodies of the militants were buried at a graveyard, officials said.
The security forces were searching for the third militant, who the officials said might have escaped as the house where they were hiding caught fire.
