Allahabad, Dec 21: Two railway officials have been suspended here for laxity in duty resulting in diversion of a Mumbai-bound train to a wrong route.
Power Station Master and Cabin man of the Naini railway station near here have been suspended for diverting the Ratnagiri Express from Manikpur to Howrah route in the early hours yesterday.
“Two officials posted at the Naini railway station near here have been suspended by the Divisional Railway Manager of Allahabad for the erroneous diversion of the Ratnagiri Express, originating from Varanasi, to the Howrah route,” Rajesh Dutt Bajpai Chief Public Relations Officer North Central Railway zone said today.
He said the train, which was supposed to take the Manikpur route for its onward journey, got diverted to the Howrah route after crossing Naini, though the alert driver immediately took note, applied brakes and informed the control room.
