Two new underbridges at Secunderabad

Hyderabad, January 20: Works on the proposed two road under bridges (RuBs) near Rail Nilayam and Alugadda Bavi in Secunderabad will be taken up soon by South Central Railway (SCR).

Work had not been able to start before due lack of coordination between the SCR and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Niggling issues between the two have now been sorted out. The two RuBs will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 26 crore. GHMC has released a part payment of Rs 6.5 crore for starting the works. It has stated that as and when the work progresses, it will release more. The two RuBs would ease traffic movement from Secunderabad to Mettuguda and Tarnaka. Dhananjaya Reddy, GHMC additional commissioner and other members of the coordination committee also visited various parts of the Old City. He said the GHMC would take up Charminar Pedestrianisation project (CPP) from April 1. Under CPP, granite slabs would be laid first from Gulzar Houz to Charminar and then from Charminar to Moti Galli.
