New Delhi, April 26: Two persons, including an engineer, were nabbed by the Delhi Police for carrying out inter- state vehicle thefts.
Eighteen luxury cars were recovered from their possession.
Vijay Singh, additional deputy commissioner of the south district police, said N. Reagan, 28 and W. Kanan Kumar, 37, had masterminded at least 200 vehicle thefts in the Capital. Reagan was an engineer. Kumar is a graduate in zoology.
“ Both are from eastern Imphal. They used to steal cars from Delhi and send them across to the Northeastern states through the railway parcel service. Our inquiries with the parcel service revealed that the duo sent across many cars, most of them Hyundai i10s, in the past few months.
We are also looking at the possibility of some railways officials being hand- in- glove with them,” Singh said.
The police also seized from them a laptop with special software to prepare fake registration papers, besides many fake number plates.
