Two most wanted chain snatchers nabbed; 6kg gold ornaments seized

The East Zone Team of Commissioner’s Task force on Wednesday apprehended two most wanted chain snatchers Sayeed Hussain and Mirza Azmath Ali Baig at Gulzar House, who committed 228 cases of chain snatchings in Hyderabad and Cyberabad areas and recovered gold ornaments weighing 6 kg.

Sayeed Hussain alias Lamba Hussain alias Lamba, 27, is a car driver residing at Nawab Sabkunta, Kalpather and 106 non-bailable warrants are pending against him. Mirza Azmath Ali Baig alias Ali, 22, has plastic grinding business at Tadban.

However, Mohd. Akheeluddin alias Akheel alias Kalifa, 21, of Jahanuma is absconding.
The modus operandi of the accused was to ride Karizma bikes for snatching chains from women in lanes and bylanes in isolated places. In most cases, Syed Hussain committed the snatchings single handed. He was arrested by S.R. Nagar Police twice in 2010 and 2011.

Mahankali Police arrested him in 2012 in 40 cases and was later released from jail in November 2012. After his release from jail, he became violent and created panic among public by committing snatchings at knife point. He had committed 228 chain snatchings in the past two years.

Police said on November 14 this year, Sayeed Hussain stabbed a police constable when he was chased after committing a snatching under L.B. Nagar police limits. Sayeed Hussain used to flee to Delhi, Goa, Bengaluru, Ooti, Mysore, Chennai, Gulbarga, Basawakalyanam, Agra, Azmir, Mumbai by changing vehicles to avoid arrest.

Azmath was arrested by S.R. Nagar Police in May this year in connection with 13 snatching cases and remanded to Chanchalguda jail. After his release from jail in June 2014, he resumed snatchings along with Sayeed Hussain. They sold the stolen property to Mohd. Abdul Khaleel, Shaik Ahmeduddin alias Ahmed, Syed Arshad, Mohd. Irfan and Majeed Khan.

Today, on a tip-off by HC Venkata Swamy, the East Zone Team nabbed. At their instance, the police arrested three more persons and recovered gold ornaments weighing 6.3 kg, one knife, two motorcycles, one Passport and seven mobile phones from their possession.
