Mumbai, January 07: A 14-year-old girl allegedly ended her life by hanging herself from the ceiling of her Thane home on Wednesday. Police said that Rupali Rathod, a resident of Wagle Estate, took the step after her mother scolded her for not studying.
The Std IX student was alone at home. Her parents were at work, and brother Himanshu, 9, was out with his friends.
Returning home around 9 pm, her mother Sunita found the door locked from the inside. Looking through a window, she saw Rupali hanging from the ceiling. She broke open the door with the neighbours’ help.
In Nashik, engineering student Dhanashree Patil allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on Wednesday morning. A family source said she was depressed after failing in two subjects. Her father, Sambhaji Patil, was away in Kerala for work. She was at home with her younger sister.
