Two Maoists surrendered before the police in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district today.
The 22-year-old Pallo Budhu, the member of National Park Indravati–Bhamragarh (NIB) guerrilla company and Baisu
Rayam (25) deputy commander of the Bhairamgarh local guerrilla squad (LGS), had expressed their desire to join the mainstream and surrendered in Bijapur,” Inspector General (IG) of Police Himanshu Gupta told PTI.
They were given Rs 10,000 as an encouragement amount,” he said.
Budhu had joined the Maoist movement in 2007 and been working with the NIB guerrilla company since 2009. He was
active in Indravati (Chhattisgarh) and Bhamragarh (Maharashtra) area during this period, while Baisu worked as a
deputy commander between 2008 and 2012 in the Bhairamgarh area of the district, he said, after joining the Maoist movement in 2005.
They said they were disappointed by high handedness of senior cadres,” he said.
The two Maoists will be given assistance as per the Chhattisgarh government’s rehabilitation policy, the IG said.
