Two killed after truck rams into bike in Punjab

Pathankot: Two persons were killed while nine others, including four women, sustained injuries when a truck rammed into a bike and an auto rickshaw this evening, police said.

The truck driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and tried to flee the spot but was nabbed by the police.

The driver, a resident Amritsar, has been identified as Raunki Singh, they said.

Those riding on the motorcycle died on the spot, Pathankot SHO Kanwan, Sudesh Kumar said, adding they have been identified as Pawan Kumar and Baldev Raj.

After hitting the bike, Singh, trying to flee from the spot, accelerated the truck and hit an auto rickshaw, which injured the nine occupants, including four women of the auto, they said.

A case under relevant sections has been registered against the driver, police said.
