Thane, November 25: Four unidentified shooters barged into the local Shiv Sena office in Ambernath, where party leader Arvind Valekar was sitting on Wednesday night and fired indiscriminately, eyewitnesses said.
Valekar’s security guard Shyam Sunder Yadav also fired in self-defence. In the ensuing firing, Yadav and one of the shooters were killed.
More than 10 to 12 rounds were fired as Valekar hid inside the room. The incident took place at around 9 pm.
Police found 10 live cartrdiges from the spot. Crime Branch is on the trail of the shooters who ran away from the spot.
