Two juveniles apprehended for helping gangster flee from police custody

New Delhi: Delhi Police has apprehended two 17-year-old youths in connection with the escape of gangster Jitender Gogi from police custody last month, a senior officer said.

Ten associates of the gangster had helped him flee from custody when he was being taken from Tihar Jail to a court in Narwana in Jind district in a Haryana Roadways bus on July 30.

The criminals had thrown chilli power in the eyes of the policemen escorting the gangster and also looted a MP 5 gun from them.

Of the 10 accused who were actively involved in Gogi’s escape, identity of eight was established and four of them, including national level junior boxing champion Deepak Boxer and national level athlete Praveen, were arrested.

“Identity of the two accused belonging to UP was established by the Crime Branch after much effort and both, aged around 17 years, were detained from Baraut in Baghpat district on August 12,” said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner (Crime Branch).

They were apprehended as per CrPC provisions and their versions were recorded as per law, said the officer.

Two other accused Mohit was arrested by north west Delhi police while Sanjay Falla was arrested by outer district police earlier this month.

The escaped gangster Gogi, who has been engaged in a gang war with rival gang of Tillu Tajpuria in Alipur area of outer Delhi, is yet to be arrested by the police.

The three-year-old gangwar has claimed 4-5 lives from both gangs, the officer said. Before his escape, Gogi was in Tihar prison while Tillu is lodged in Sonipat jail.
