Two injured in bomb blast in southern Serbia

Belgrade, July 14:A woman and a child were injured in a bomb attack early Tuesday in the southern Serbia town of Presevo, near the border with Kosovo.

The explosive device had been placed in front of the building where members of Serbian police force live, Belgrade media reported.

Last week, two Serbian policemen were injured in an ambush in the same town, which is largely inhabited by Albanians.

In 2000, Presevo was at the centre of a failed insurgency by Albanians who wanted the area to be part of Kosovo. They region has been in fragile peace ever since. Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in February 2008.
