Two independent candidates filed their nominations for by-elections for Tirupati Assembly seat on the fourth day of filing of nominations on Thursday.
The candidates, N Jayakar and P Venkata Reddy, filed one set of nomination papers each before the Returning Officer. While the last date for filing of nominations is January 27, the Telugu Desam Party is trying hard for unanimous election for the Tirupati seat. According to sources, both the YRS Congress Party and Congress are not likely to field their candidates for the seat, which fell vacant due to the sudden death of sitting MLA M Venakataramana of TDP on December 15.
The polling for Tirupati Assembly seat will be on February 13 and the counting of votes will take place on February 16.
