Two illegal arms dealers arrested

Mumbai, March 29: An alleged supplier of firearms and his associate have been arrested from suburban Santacruz after they arrived for delivering arms consignment to members of Ravi Pujari gang, Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad said today.

The ATS recovered six pistols and 21 live rounds, brought for delivery, from the duo.

ATS on a tip-off laid a trap on Saturday outside Santacruz railway station when the two accused, Jitendra Sonkar (36) and Mangesh Uke (27), were found moving suspiciously in the area, an ATS official said.

“We waited for sometime so that the buyer of the firearms would arrive there. But the duo started leaving the place after waiting for some time as nobody from the Pujari gang turned up to take delivery of the weapons when we caught them. Six pistols and 21 live rounds were recovered from them after frisking,” the official added.
