Notorious criminals Siva alias Track Siva and Anand alias Anandkumar were arrested for throwing a country-made bomb at a timber merchant’s house at Naveena Garden here on last Thursday night.
Superintendent of Police (North) S Ramaraj said the two were held following the arrest of an eight-member gang from a crematorium on Cuddalore road.
On questioning, Track Siva and Anandkumar confessed that they had thrown the country-bomb at the house at timber merchant Naresh Patel, who owns a shop at the 100 feet road. They escaped under the cover of darkness. No one was injured in the incident. The bomb exploded on the portico of the house and windows panes were broken in the incident. Mr. Ramaraj said Narash Patel had received some threatening calls on his mobile asking him for ‘maamool’. But he did not oblige. Saying that the threatening calls were traced to Jagan, who is now lodged in Karaikal jail, Ramaraj said police would take Jagan in to custody and question him on his involvement in the incident.
