Two held for selling Cocaine

Hyderabad, May 30: The police today nabbed two drug peddlers from plush locality of Banjara Hills on charges of selling Cocaine under NDPS Act and also seized 25 grams of the banned substance from them.

Acting on a tip-off, the Banjara Hills police busted the drug racket and apprehended Sarfaraj and Showkat, both in their 30s, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) Stephen Raveendra told PTI, adding that police seized 25 grams of cocaine from them when they were soliciting customers in Banjara Hills.

Another police officer said the duo were selling the narcotic substance to prospective customers at a cost of Rs 4,000 per gram. “One of them had been arrested previously on the similar charge of selling drugs,” the investigating officer said adding they were arrested under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The Hyderabad police during July and August last year had busted several drug networks, involving Nigerian and Ugandan nationals, which also helped them in exposing the drug mafia-Tollywood (Telugu film industry) link after the accused reportedly revealed that their clients included actors, actresses from Tollywood and important personalities from posh localities of the city.
