“Sanjiv Bansal, a resident of Machalpur in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district and Syed Farhan, a resident of Agar district of that state, were arrested by the police when they were about to enter MP from Ghatoli while travelling with the cash in a car last night,” they said.
They were travelling from Aklera in Jhalawar to Machalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
Out of the total cash seized, Rs 11.40 lakh is in Rs 2,000 denomination, Rs 6.60 lakh in Rs 500 notes, whereas rest of the amount is in Rs 100, 50 and 10 currency notes.
“The accused claimed that they were grain traders, but did not stop at the check post. We chased them and found Rs 20 lakh unaccounted cash in the car. As they could not provide satisfactory answer and produce necessary documents, so we arrested them and seized the cash,” Sub Inspector Nargish Khanam told PTI, adding that we have handed over the matter to IT department for further investigation.
