New Delhi: Two people have been arrested for allegedly raping and attempting to kill a 14-year-old girl they kidnapped from Uttam Nagar area here, a police officer said on Thursday.
The girl was kidnapped on November 22 when she went to meet one of the accused, who befriended her a few months earlier.
Mohit and Vipin – both 22 and residents of Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh – were arrested from Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
The police action came after the victim’s father Dhara Singh lodged a missing person complaint.
Delhi Police got information that a Delhi girl was admitted to a private hospital in Gautam Budh Nagar by Uttar Pradesh Police with gunshot injuries in her chest, a police official said.
In her statement to the police, the girl said that three people kidnapped and confined her to a room in Greater Noida.
“All the people sexually assaulted her repeatedly. Thereafter, they brought her to a secluded open field and fired bullets on her chest,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Pushpender Kumar said, citing victim’s statement.
They threw her in a dry well in the night. She raised alarm after gaining consciousness, he said.
The officer said the hunt was on to arrest the third attacker of then girl.
