Hyderabad, July 06: Dabeerpura Police on Tuesday said that they have nabbed two absconding persons on Monday who had been extorting money by impersonating as Task Force sleuths.
Identifying the arrested persons as Fazal (25) and Anwar Khan (45), the police said that the accused extorted money from one Mahender Singh, a bootlegger.
Police was on the lookout of the two following the complaint filed by Mahender Singh that they had chased and stopped him at Chanchalguda on June 26 while he was transporting the indigenously manufactured liquor sachets from Dhoolpet towards Saidabad Singareni Colony.
They told the bootlegger that they were Task Force sleuths and demanded Rs 10,000. They called Mahender Singh’s father on his mobile phone and told him to pay the money for the release of his son.
Mahender Singh’s father Manohar Singh meanwhile filed a complaint with the Dabeerpura police following which efforts were on to trace the culprits.
