Two held in national capital with counterfeit notes

New Delhi, January 22: Two persons have been arrested in the national capital allegedly in possession of counterfeit notes having a face value of Rs 1.35 lakh, as the police today said it suspected the involvement of Pak spy agency ISI.

“We have caught two men with fake currency printed in a neighbouring country with an intention to circulate in Indian market to destabilise the country’s economy,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said.

Though Dhaliwal did not name Pakistan or ISI, a senior official said they had every reason to suspect the involvement of the Pak spy agency as the seized fake notes were of “very fine quality”.

“These fake notes are of very fine quality and the security features like water mark, security thread and paper quality used in the currency notes is of quality which makes it very difficult to detect these fake notes” he said.
