Two held for making extortion call

Kolkata, March 05: Two employees of a software company were arrested today for allegedly making extortion demands to a call centre worker, police said.

Robin Karmakar, a resident of Salt Lake and an employee of a call centre in Park Street, received a threatening call demanding Rs 10 lakh or he would be killed.

He lodged a complaint with Bidhannagar Police station and the call was traced to software company employees Sushmit Ghosh, a resident of Beliaghata in East Kolkata, and Y Chang Kui, a resident of Rabindra Nagar in South Kolkata.

“After interrogating them we will ascertain the reason behind their extortion demand,” ASP Bidhanaghar Debabrata Das said.
