New Delhi, September 02: Two men who kidnapped a 10-year-old boy in the national capital and held him for a Rs.3-million ransom were arrested in Haryana, Delhi Police said Wednesday.
“Navdeep, 21, and Sandeep, 25, were arrested for their involvement in the kidnapping of Deepanshu, a class V student, from near his Mundka residence Aug 31. One of their accomplices, Deepak, is absconding,” Deputy Commissioner Sharad Aggarwal said.
The boy is now safe and with his parents, he added.
The three men kidnapped Deepanshu when he came out of the house to buy cold drinks, said Aggarwal. They took the boy to Sampla in Haryana and kept him hostage in a car near Bhaproda village.
Navdeep then came back to Bahadurgarh and called the boy’s father and demanded Rs.3 million ransom, police said.
The boy is the only son of government employee Ashok Kumar.
The arrested duo have admitted they committed the crime to get rich quick, Aggarwal said.
