A second guerrilla was killed Sunday in the ongoing gunfight between security forces and guerrillas in Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, police said here.
As a joint contingent of 24 Rashtriya Rifles troops and the state police was carrying out searches in the Chattergul forests of Ganderbal, a guerrilla, hiding in the area, opened fire at them, said a senior police official.
“The fire was returned resulting in his death.”
“Earlier one foreign militant was killed in this gunfight that had started yesterday (Saturday) morning. The exact identity of the second slain militant is being established,” the officer said.
The security forces had Saturday used helicopters to trace the guerrillas hiding in the area.
