Two Greyhound units for Tirumala

Tirumala, February 15: In the wake of increase in terror threat, there is every need to strengthen security at Tirumala and set up exclusive security and intelligence wings for the hill shrine, Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy has said.

Speaking to the media here Saturday after reviewing Tirumala temple security, she said two units of Greyhounds would be deployed on the hill shrine.

A Special Branch wing would also be set up for temple security. An outer corridor covering the temple and Four Mada Streets would be constructed soon to further strengthen security, she said. The Home Minister said after the end of the ongoing police recruitment, Tirumala and Tirupati would get the full strength of policemen required for effective maintenance of law and order.

Earlier, she held a meeting with DIG Sunbath Rao, Chittoor district SP, TTD Chief Vigilance and Security Officer, Tirumala Special Officer and other officials. The SP underlined the need for setting up a Special Branch team exclusively for the Tirumala Temple and deployment of additional security personnel to fortify the hill shrine.
