Two govt officials held in bribery cases in AP

Two government officials were arrested in separate corruption cases from East Godavari and Anantpur districts, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said today.

The arrested have been identified as K Jaya Raju, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Praja Parishad in East Godavari district and P Tulasi Prasad, Assistant Executive Engineer in Panchayat Raj department in Anantapur district, an ACB release said.

Raju was caught red-handed by ACB officials yesterday in his office when he allegedly demanded and accepted bribe of Rs 30,000 from a complainant for doing an official favour, it said.

Similarly, Prasad was caught red-handed by ACB officials when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant for doing an official favour.

Both the accused were arrested after recovery of the bribe amount and produced before the ACB Courts in Vijayawada and Kurnool respectively, the release added.
