Two govt employees among three held in bribery cases

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials today trapped two government employees and one outsourcing employee, when they allegedly took bribe in two separate cases in Tirupati and Nalgonda in Andhra Pradesh. Karanam Kranti Kumar, Senior Accountant in Divisional Sub-Treasury Office at Tirupti was caught red-handed by ACB officials when he demanded and accepted bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant for releasing the pension of his father for the month of February 2013, an ACB release said. In another case, Chaityala Raju, an Assistant Engineer in Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Ltd (APCPDCL) at Shaligopuram of Nalgonda was caught red-handed by ACB officials when he demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 8,000 as bribe from the complainant for doing an official favour. The tainted amount was recovered from Ch Shiva Kumar, an outsourcing employee of APCPDCL, the release added. Both the cases are under investigation. PTI
