Bhagalpur (Bihar), June 29: Two school girls lost their legs when it came under a goods train after they were knocked down at an unmanned level crossing near Sabour railway station today, police said today.
Vandana Kumari and Sangeeta Kumari — natives of Mamalka and Harka villages — were riding their bicycles on way to their college when the goods train hit them and ran over their legs at the level crossing, police said.
Both legs of the two girls were severed in the incident and they have been admitted to the Jawaharlal Lal Nehru hospital for treatment, they said, adding their condition was stated to be critical.
Irate villagers, students and railway passengers blocked rail and road traffic to protest against the negligence of the railway authorities.
