Kozhikode: Two Kerala fishermen are reported missing while 16 others were rescued by Coast Guard and Fisheries personnel after their boat capsized in the sea off Honnavar coast in Karnataka, officials here said today.
The boat capsized around 8 pm last night when the fishermen, who had gone out to sea from nearby Beypore on November 10, were fishing about 32 nautical miles from Hannavar in Uttara Kannada District.
Coast Guard personnel and state fisheries department officials launched a joint operation and rescued 16 of the fishermen and a search was on for the other two, Coast Guard and fisheries department officials said.
Two vessels and a Dornier aircraft of the Coast Guard besides another vessel from the Kerala Fisheries department have been deployed in a joint operation to search for the two missing fishermen, a Coast Guard spokesman said.
