Two engineering students caught ragging

Hyderabad, November 10: Two senior students of a private engineering college on the outskirts of the city were today caught red-handed while ragging their junior at a bus stand near the college.

Kiran Kumar and Ramaswamy, both third year engineering students of JB Institute of Engineering and Technology at Moinabad were forcing the junior, 20-year-old first year engineering student Ratnakar, to pretend as if he was putting on clothes and recite a rhyme 10 times.

The duo who stay in a rented accomodation at Mehdipatnam, caught Ratnakar near Himayathnagar bus stand today evening after college hours. “The senior students asked Ratnakar to pretend as if he was putting on clothes and asked him to repeat the act 10 times. Apart from this they asked him to recite ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ 10 times,” Moinabad police inspector G Sekhar Goud said. Even as Ratnakar started to cry, the seniors kept on harassing him to obey their orders. Meanwhile, a patrol party of Moinabad police noticed Ratnakar crying and inquired. On knowing that he was being ragged, they immediately caught the duo and shifted them to the police station.

“We have registered a case under Section 4 of Prohibition of Ragging Act against the duo and are investigating,” Sekhar Goud said.
