Hyderabad, March 29: Two engineering second year students drowned in the Komatikunta Cheruvu at Maisammaguda in Petbasheerabad near here on Sunday.
The duo, V Anil (19) of Chintal and T Chetan (19) from Maharashtra, students of Malla Reddy Engineering college in Maisammaguda, entered the lake to bathe, police said.
Pet Basheerabad police said that Anil and Chetan along with four other classmates played cricket in a ground near Komatikunta Cheruvu and later got into the lake to have a bath. Anil, who could swim, entered the waters while the others stayed back at the shore and washed themselves initially.
After sometime, the others too ventured into the water. Chetan, however, started drowning as he entered into deep waters. “Anil swam towards Chetan in an effort to rescue him but he too drowned,” Pet Basheerabad police said.
Police later retrieved the bodies.
Watchman’s family attacked A watchman, his wife and their two-year-old daughter were attacked while they were asleep by unidentified persons on Saturday night.
The victims – Ramana, Raja Rani and Chinnari – were found lying unconscious in a pool of blood outside their room on the ground floor of Sowbhagya apartments at Domalguda on Sunday morning.
Apartment association secretary Hari Prasad alerted the police.
The three were rushed to Gandhi hospital and their condition is said to be serious.
