Hyderabad, July 10: Two engineering students – a girl and a boy – ended their lives in separate incidents in Hyderabad and Vijayawada on Thursday.
In the State capital, A Tejaswani leapt to death from the terrace of an apartment in Marutinagar while in the commercial capital of the State, Patti Siva Prasad hanged himself in his hostel room near NTR University.
The reasons behind these two suicides are not quite clear. Tejaswani, according to police, was a first year engineering student of Boji Reddy Engineering College in Ibrahimpatnam near Hyderabad.
The 19-year-old had set her heart upon joining Shastra Engineering College in Tamil Nadu.
However, she failed to get a seat in the college last year and this year too. Her parents dissuaded her from attempting again. This, the police say, drove her to that moment of madness early this morning when she decided to put an end to her life.
As for Siva Prasad, the police are awaiting the arrival of his father Chandrasekhar to see if he could shed some light.
A second year student of the Usha Ram Engineering College at Telaprolu, Siva Prasad was from Kadapa and had been staying at the college hostel on Mahanadu road near NTR University.
