Two drug rackets busted

Hyderabad, August 11: Two Karnataka-based gangs, which were selling fake ayurvedic and herbal medicines for asthma and other chronic ailments, were busted with the arrest of eight persons today by the Central Zone Task Force sleuths. The police seized a huge quantity of fake ayurvedic and herbal medicines from them.

The first gang, led by Shiva Ganapathi Yanaral, was running Sri Krishna Ayurvedic Centre at Narayanguda. The gang appointed Parasuram Venkanna as an agent for selling the fake ayurvedic medicines. Parasuram used to approach people suffering from chronic ailments like paralysis, arthritis and backpain and convince them they get cured, if they use the medicines available at Krishna Ayurvedic Centre. Parasuram would be given 20 per cent commission in the sale proceeds, which range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The gang used to shift the shop frequently to avoid getting caught, Task Force DCP VB Kamalasan Reddy said.

Shiva, Parasuram and Sameer Saleem Nadaf were arrested. The trio who hail from Belgaum district in Karnataka, were staying at Langer Houz.

The second gang was operated under the name of Sri Ganesh Ayurvedic Centre at Punjagutta. Gang members Kumar, Anand, Shivram Ramesh, Desai Durgappa and Pujari Mallesh were arrested.
