Vector-borne diseases are rapidly spreading in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad due to proliferation of mosquitoes. Local people claim that the two deaths occurred during the past three days in Raza Nagar, Eidi Bazar were due to dengue and the situation was created due to inaction despite repeated requests to take measures to stop mosquito breeding.
According to local people a 40-year-old man died three days ago and 20-year-old girl student died the day before yesterday.
The open nala present in Raza Nagar has become breeding ground for mosquitoes. Locals say that repeated complaints were made on the 24-hour complaint cell of GHMC but in vain. Local people demanded that the government especially GHMC officials visit the area and take effective measures to stop mosquito breeding.
Not only in Raza Nagar but the mosquitoes have become a nuisance for the residents of several localities of old city but Municipal Corporation failed to take any action in this regard.
